Mumbai: Considering the recent spike in daily Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra, the state administration is announced lockdown and night curfew in several districts with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray warning of curbs in more areas. 


Currently, the state has more than half of the total Covid-19 caseload in India with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare confirming that the state has over 1 lakh active cases.


Out of 36 districts of Maharashtra, 10 are witnessing severe Covid-19 crisis and 8 have been put under lockdown, night curfew and other strict restrictions. 


Here is a list of districts which has been put under strict monitoring:


Pune


Considering the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, the administration in Pune has imposed a partial lockdown in the district directing schools and colleges to remain shut till March 31 and curtailed operations of hotels and restaurants.


According to the new set of restrictions, schools and colleges will remain closed till March 31, hotels and restaurants will be allowed to function till 10 pm, and food deliveries will be permitted till 11 pm. Citizens will not be permitted to wander on city roads unnecessarily between 11 pm and 6 am.


Pune district on Thursday reported 2,840 coronavirus cases that took its tally of infections to 4,28,344.


Amravati


Even in Amravati, the administration has put several restrictions in place including closure of schools and colleges. All shops and local markets are allowed to operate between 9 am till 4 pm. 


Only essential services are allowed to operate on a 24-hours basis, but that too with strict precautionary measures.


Ahmednagar


Night curfew has been imposed in Ahmednagar district. Citizens will not be allowed to roam outside between 10 pm to 5 am, unless necessary. 


All shops and markets will operate between 9 am to 9 pm and schools and colleges will remain shut. For large gatherings like marriage, only 50 people are allowed to assemble.


Jalgaon


A lockdown has been announced in Jalgaon for three days, starting from March 12 till March 14. All shops, local markets, schools and colleges will remain closed during this time.


Even Janta Curfew has been announced in several areas of the district.


Parbhani


Parbhani district of Maharashtra will also go under lockdown from March 12 midnight to March 15 till 6 am. During this time, all schools, colleges, shops and local markets will remain closed.


Navi Mumbai


Panvel municipality area of Navi Mumbai will undergo night curfew from March 12 midnight and will continue till March 22. Night curfew in the area will start from 11 pm to 5 am and people will not be allowed to roam on roads during this time.


All schools and colleges will remain shut during this period. An NOC from Police will be required for organising events like marriage. Isolation centres of Panvel will also be reopened.


Mumbai


Financial capital of the country has maximum number of active Coronavirus cases. CM Thackeray has even said that in case the daily Covid-19 count does not come down soon, required restrictions will be put in place.


Currently, conducting rallies, marches, social programmes etc is not allowed in Mumbai.
