Three persons were killed and four were injured in a blaze at a firecrackers manufacturing unit in Shirale village of Solapur, Maharashtra, on Sunday. The incident close on the heels of another similar incident in the state in Nashik.



The Nashik fire broke out in a poly-film factory located in Mundegaon village of Igatpuri tehsil.






Union Minister of Health Bharti Pravin Pawar said: "An explosion occurred in a reactor plant at a poly film factory belonging to the Jindal company. One person has died and more than 14 people were injured in the. The injured were admitted to a local hospital. Rescue operations are underway."


Officials from the local administration and the district's Guardian minister rushed to the spot along with Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to monitor the situation.


CM Eknath Shinde later met those injured in the Nashik factory fire. He said: "Two people have died and 17 were injured in the incident. The expense of treating the injured will be borne by the government. An ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh each will be given to families of the deceased." He also said that an inquiry into the incident will be conducted.
