New Delhi: In a tragic incident, a 35-year-old man died while dancing at a Garba event in Virar town of Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said on Monday, as reported by news agency PTI. The man who died was identified as Manish Narapji Sonigra. He collapsed while dancing at the Garba event at Global City complex in Virar on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, PTI reported citing an official from the Virar police station.

The man was rushed to a hospital by his father Narapji Sonigra (66) and was declared dead. On hearing about the death, the man's father also collapsed in the hospital and died on the spot, he said, as reported by PTI.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and a case of accidental death has been registered, the official added. He, however, did not say anything about the possible cause of the father-son duo's death, saying the reason will be known only after post-mortem reports are received.

This incident comes just a few days after a 50-year-old man who was playing the role of Hanuman in a Ramlila, died on stage while performing in Salempur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district last week on Saturday, as reported by the news agency IANS. The man was identified as Ram Swaroop. He suffered a heart attack during his performance. The video of the incident went viral on social media.

Earlier in September, a similar incident happened when a man fell unconscious while dancing in a Ganpati pandal dressed as Lord Hanuman in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri. He was rushed to the hospital where he died of a heart attack. The deceased was identified as Ravi Sharma.

In another such incident that happened last month, a 20-year-old artist named Yogesh Gupta died while performing a dance in a Ganesh Puja event in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bishnah. He suffered a heart attack and fell on the stage.
