Lucknow (UP): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has yet again taken a snipe on a Mughal ruler, saying it wasn’t Akbar, but Maharana Pratap, who was ‘great’.

While addressing the students of Institute of Management Research and Technology in Lucknow, Yogi said “Akbar asked Maharana Pratap to accept him as 'badshah' & that then he won't interfere in his kingdom Mewar. Maharana Pratap said we can't accept a 'vidharmi' & a foreigner as our ruler. Maharana proved it wasn't Akbar, but he who was great, by winning back his forts.”

This comes days after CM Yogi stole headlines for changing the name of Mughalsarai railway station to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Station.

This is not the first instance, that a BJP leader has rejected history and has suggested own take on the same.

Even earlier, BJP MLA Sangeet Som while backing UP government’s decision to remove Taj Mahal from tourist books had said that “Taj Mahal was built by traitors and it is a blot on Indian culture;” Another BJP leader Surendra Singh wanted Taj Mahal to be renamed as Ram or Krishna Mahal.

The government is even planning to change the name of Allahabad as Prayagraj at the occasion of Ardhkumbh next year.
