New Delhi: Hours after the president of All India Akhara Parishad, Mahant Narendra Giri, was found dead at his Baghambari Math located residence on Monday in Prayagraj, UP police detained his disciple Anand Giri from Haridwar with the help of Uttarkhand police.


Yoga Guru Anand Giri was named by the seer in his reported suicide note. The UP ADG Law & Order said that a suicide note was recovered in which Mahant Narendra Giri accused Anand Giri & two others of this step, reported ANI.


The seer had also written that he was mentally disturbed and was ending his life, according to a report by PTI.


He had also delegated various responsibilities to his disciples in the note, the police said.


However, accused Anand Giri said it is a conspiracy against him and they are trying to extort money in the name of Mahant's death. Speaking to ANI, Anand Giri said, "It's a big conspiracy by people who used to extort money from Guruji & wrote my name in the letter. It needs to be investigated as guru ji hasn't written a letter in his life &couldn't do any suicide, his handwriting needs to be probed"


Anand Giri further said, "I have spent my entire life over there and never took any money. Everything was good between me and Guru ji and hence I request govt to investigate the matter thoroughly."


The sadhu had also talked about the construction of a 'samadhi' in the suicide note, he said, adding the decision on it will also be taken by the Akhara Parishad's office-bearers.
 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Prayagraj on Tuesday morning and paid his last respects to seer Mahant Narendra Giri 


According to ABP sources, all 13 Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) heads will be present in Prayagraj to pay their last respects to the mortal remains of Mahant Giri. They will also hold a meeting regarding a demand for a probe in the matter and the nomination of a new head of the Akhara.


Mahant Narendra Giri Maharaj was the president of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad.


His body was found hanging inside the Sri Math Baghambari Gaddi in Prayagraj.

Heavy police force was deployed at the Muth from Sunday 6 pm onwards and barricades were set up in the surrounding areas. All top officials, including the divisional commissioner, the district magistrate, IG, SSP, were present at the Muth.
