New Delhi: Against the backdrop of election results in five states, the Maharashtra government will present the state budget for financial year 2022-23 today.

Finance Minister Ajit Pawar will present the budget in the legislative assembly at 1 pm. This is the second budget that the Maha Vikas Aghadi party will present in the house.

The general public is looking forward to new announcements from the finance minister for development work in the state.

The budget will be observed even more keenly as municipal elections are scheduled to be held in the state in the next six months after being postponed.

Several projects in the state have been severely hit due to Covid in the last two years. Work on most projects has either stalled or is moving at a snails pace. It would therefore be interesting to see how Finance Minister Ajit Pawar manages to get the stalled projects back on track.

Buying a house may become expensive in cities where metros are built. Government is preparing to set up Metro SEZ on 1% home purchase, reported ABP News.

Before the start of the budget session on March 3, the BJP led by Leader of Opposition in Assembly Devendra Fadnavis, had staged protest at Vidhan Bhavan demanding removal of minister Nawab Malik from his post.

State Minority Affairs Minister Nawab Malik was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in Februrary in connection with a money laundering case linked to underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
