Girl Pulled Out Of Borewell In Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha District Dies: Official

The girl was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital after being rescued but could not survive.

A two-and-a-half-year-old girl, who fell into a borewell at Kajari Barkheda village in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha district earlier today has died, reported news agency ANI, citing officials. The girl, whose name was Asmita was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital after being rescued by the local administration but failed to survive.

"The two-and-a-half-year-old girl who was rescued from a borewell in Kajari Barkheda village has passed away", said CMHO Dr Yogesh Tiwari.

According to Sameer Yadav, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Vidisha," The incident occurred on Tuesday around 11 am when the toddler was playing in the backyard of Inder Singh's house and somehow fell into the 20-foot-deep borewell."

After the inicdent was reported, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was immediately pressed into action to try and rescue the girl safely.

Early last month a similar incident had taken place in Sehore district of the state. A two-and-half-year-old girl, who had fallen into a 300-foot borewell was pulled out after a 55-hour operation by the local administration.

 However, despite the best efforts by medical and rescue personnel, she did not survive. She was sent to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. "Despite our best attempts, we could not save the girl. An autopsy by a team of two doctors revealed that the body was in a decomposed state. The cause of death was suffocation," the collector of Sehore said.

The girl, named Srishti, fell into the borewell and Initiallygot trapped at a depth of approximately 40 feet, she unfortunately slid further down to about 100 feet due to vibrations caused by the rescue machinery.
