Madhya Pradesh police on Tuesday destroyed around 1,300 illegal arms and ammunition at the police control room in Datia ahead of the state assembly elections. Several police officials were present at the site when a roller was used for crushing and destroying all types of illegal arms. Datia Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma said that all these arms were destroyed only after permission from the court. He also said more such strict actions will be taken in future to stop further penetration of such activities. Sharma promised to crack down on many other illegal arms manufacturing factories in the region.






While talking to news agency ANI, he said, “A large number of illegal arms and ammunition was destroyed by Police at the Police Control Room in Datia.”


Sharma was quoted as saying by the agency: "Keeping in mind the upcoming state elections, around 1,300 arms and ammunition were destroyed at the Control Room with permission from the Court. In future too, such strict action will be taken.”


Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a joint team of the National Investigation Agency and Mumbai police conducted a raid at four locations in Mumbai and Pune on Monday (July 3) and detained four alleged Islamic State sympathisers.


During the search operations, multiple incriminating materials, including digital devices etc, were seized from the accused and their houses. These sympathisers were to the adverse notice of the Central agency since early 2021.


A raid was conducted in Wazir Cascade Society under Kondhwa Police Station today and an individual named Zubair Sheikh, 39 was arrested for alleged links with the ISIS.


According to ABP News sources, some documents and electronic gadgets were recovered from Zuber.


Earlier, the NIA team arrested a youth from Chhotki Bazar of the Behera police station area at Darbhanga, in connection with a PFI case, Darbhanga's Senior Superintendent of Police Abhishek Kumar said on Sunday.
