Bhopal: In yet another act of mob brutality, a 45-year old tribal man was allegedly beaten and then tied with a truck and dragged in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch district. According to reports, the man scummed to injuries soon after the incident.
According to Madhya Pradesh Police, 5 people have been arrested and a total of eight have been booked in the matter.
Identified as Kanhiya Bhil, the man was assaulted by a group of people who thought him to be a thief.
Soon after the incident was reported, the victim was taken to a nearby community hospital by Police. He was then was referred to Neemuch district hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival.
Reacting upon the tragedy, Sundar Singh Kanesh, Additional SP, Neemuch said, "five persons have been arrested for allegedly beating a man, Kanhiya Bhil, tying his legs with a rope to a pick-up truck & then dragging him in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh. A total of 8 persons have been booked in this matter."
The video of the incident which reportedly took place on Thursday has gone viral on social media. In the video, a man, with a rope tied around his feet, can be seen being dragged by a truck, even as the victim pleads to let him go.
The accused have been charged for murder, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and other sections of the Indian Penal Code, said the officer.
