Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit (IDF WDS) 2022 today, which is being held at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida. In his address, PM Modi said Indian scientists have developed an indigenous vaccine to prevent the Lumpy Skin Disease in cattle, and the central government is in constant contact with the state governments to prevent the disease from spreading amongst cattle.


In his remarks, PM Modi emphasised the significance of human dependence on livestock in the dairy industry. He also called attention to the current outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease in cattle and the resulting loss.






The Prime Minister stated that the country is emphasising the universal vaccination of animals, and it is the government’s aim to resolve cattle universal vaccination-related issues by 2025.

PM Modi said: “We are also emphasising on universal vaccination of animals. We have resolved that by 2025, we will vaccinate 100% of the animals against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis: PM Narendra Modi at International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit 2022.”






The four-day-long IDF WDS 2022 is being held from 12th to 15th of September, is a congregation of global and Indian dairy stakeholders including industry leaders, experts, farmers and policy planners centring around the theme of ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood’.


IDF WDS 2022 is anticipated to draw about 1500 participants from 50 nations. The last such summit took place in India in 1974, which was around 50 years ago.
