New Delhi: In the latest development in the passport case of Anas Siddiqui and Tanvi Seth, the eye-witness who was present when passport was handed over to the couple, neglecting the rules, had a narrow escape from kidnappers on Saturday night.


Kuldeep has claimed that some people in a Scorpio tried to kidnap him in a botched attempt at around 2 pm in the night.

Kuldeep who was present when Passport was being provided to Tanvi Seth, was abducted from Lucknow, but he successfully managed to escape from the kidnappers at Indo-Nepal border in Lakhimpur.

After his escape he filed a complaint at Sansarpur police station and expressed his suspicion that he was kidnapped over his connection with Tanvi-Anas passport case

People and the reason behind abduction attempt have not yet been ascertained.

As per the sources a grey Scorpio stopped right in front of Kuldeep’s bike at around 2 pm in the night, he was then picked up and was made unconscious. When he gained senses he opened the door forcefully and took the first bus. He got down at the first town he reached which was Sansarpur and lodged a complaint with the police.

Deepak Kumar,SSP Lucknow said: "Kuldeep, a person claiming to be the eyewitness in the interfaith couple passport case has surfaced, he is supporting the RPO, he has also said an abduction attempt was made on him. All this is totally unconfirmed right now and we are looking into it".


Previously, the inter-faith couple -Tanvi Seth and Anas Siddiqui, had alleged that they were harassed at Lucknow passport office where the husband was allegedly told to change his religion & take 'pheras'. Later officials had apologised and the couple was issued a passport.

Regional Passport Officer had informed that a show cause notice was issued to the official and the accused passport officer Vikas Mishra was transferred.
