New Delhi: Congress General secretary Priyanka Gandhi, who is in the centre stage of the party these days campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, has made a big statement regarding contesting elections. As per sources, a party candidate appealed to Priyanka and asked her to contest the upcoming polls and said “If you contest elections, it will create waves in Purvanchal”; responding to party leader, Priyanka chucked and said “Should I fight from Varanasi?”
The entire conversation between Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and partymen happened in an informal way.
Priyanka was in her mother’s parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli on Thursday, where she spoke to party workers. During this meeting she mentioned ‘Varanasi’. Earlier, Priyanka had said that if party wants, she would contest the polls for sure.
Varanasi is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency and he had a massive victory from there in 2014.
Priyanka Gandhi has visited both Rae Bareli and Amethi in last two days. Amethi is Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency.
Congress general secretary on Thursday wriggled herself out of her party workers demand to get herself weighed in 'laddoos', making the local leader who had planned the event to sit on the scales instead.
After day-long meetings with partymen in her Brother Rahul Gandhi's Parliamentary constituency on Wednesday, Priyanka Gandhi arrived at the residence of local leader Fateh Bahadur around midnight, where the host had the weighing scales ready.
She, however, turned down the request by her party workers to sit on them against 'laddoos' and instead got the host to sit on them, much to the amusement of onlookers.
