New Delhi: Ukrainian citizen Anna Horodetska came all the way from war hit Ukraine to marry her boyfriend, Anubhav Bhasin, a lawyer from Delhi, reported news agency ANI.

The couple is all set to tie the knot next month in Delhi, the agency reported further.

The couple who had scheduled their marriage to take place in March had to postpone their plan as Anna’s country was invaded by Russian troops on February 24. The couple have decided for a low-key wedding ceremony in South Delhi, reports the Indian Express.

Soon after the invasion began in Ukraine, Anna was hiding in a bunker in Kyiv from where she spoke to Anubhav who asked her to remain there, but she said that she decided to reach India anyhow.

“We had three fights since the invasion began. The first was when he asked me to leave Kyiv and I told him Russia would not invade. The second was when he begged me to board a train but I did not want to. And the third time we fought was when he asked me to stay in the bunker. I told him, you wait, I am coming to India,” quoted Indian Express as Anna spoke.

Tired Anna, when arrived at the Indira Gandhi International airport, was welcomed with a sweet surprise — Anubhav went down on one knee and extended an engagement ring and asked if Anna would marry him , amidst the sounds of dhol, stated the report.

Anna and Anubhav had first met in 2019 when Anna was working in a private company in Kyiv and had visited India for a vacation.
