In a major blow to Jammu and Kashmir leader Farooq Abdullah's National Conference (NC) party, several key leaders including Sanjeev Khajuria joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday. Khajuria, who has served the NC party for the last 35 years, joined the BJP along with his district and mandal office bearers.

Jammu and Kashmir President Ravinder Raina, General Secretaries Adv. Vibodh Gupta, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, former minister Prem Sagar Aziz, and senior leader Devender S Rana, welcomed Sanjeev Khajuria and his party members into BJP headquarters situated in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.

While welcoming the new entrants, Ravinder Raina said that the BJP has worked for the welfare of people irrespective of their religion and region. He also recalled the names of BJP stalwarts like Pandit Prem Nath Dogra and said that the saffron party has always served the citizens of India with a nationalist feeling.

Raina mentioned the sacrifices of Praja Parishad, Jana Sangh, and BJP activists, who have sacrificed a lot for people's welfare. He also highlighted PM Modi's and BJP activists' dedicated efforts that led to the establishment of two AIIMS hospitals, road networks, ring roads, and border and rail connectivity.

He also said that the people of Kashmir are also holding the BJP's symbol in high esteem and have faith in the Modi-led government. Raina further alleged that the INDI alliance was formed to stop PM Modi from doing welfare work, which has now failed due to the prime minister's growing popularity.

The former National Conference leader, Khajuria, said that Modi's government welfare schemes are benefitting people at the ground level, and the prime minister has made Indians proud all over the world.

Devinder Singh Rana said that the BJP welcomes each new entrant with love, and everyone ends up feeling like a part of the BJP family due to the clear heartedness of BJP activists.

Prem Sagr Aziz said that the local BJP unit is now stronger as Sanjeev Khajuria has joined hands with the party, which will also speed up the development works in the area.

The incident comes just days after Nitish Kumar resigned as Bihar's Chief Minister to join the BJP led NDA after taking an oath again as CM for the ninth time.
