Woman Removed From Flight In Pune After Assaulting Passengers, CISF Constable, Case Filed

The woman is a homemaker, and her husband is a software engineer in Pune. They were travelling to Delhi for the funeral of a relative.

A woman was removed from a flight headed for New Delhi after she assaulted two passengers and a CISF constable at the Lohegaon Airport of Pune. The incident took place around 7.45 am during the boarding process on Saturday.

According to The Times of India, airport authorities reported that, during the incident, the woman first attacked a brother-sister duo seated in their respective seats.

When the crew intervened and called in CISF personnel, constables Priyanka Reddy and Sonika Pal were sent to the aircraft to calm the situation. However, the woman allegedly reacted aggressively, and slapped and bit constable Reddy. The situation escalated, forcing CISF officers to restrain the woman and remove both her and her husband from the flight.

She Seemed To Be In A State Of Extreme Distress: CISF

A case was registered after the woman was handed over to airport police. "We let her go after issuing a notice [to her], asking her to join our probe as and when summoned by the investigating officer," senior inspector Ajay Sankeshwari said, Times of India reported.

A CISF officer mentioned, "She seemed to be in a state of extreme distress due to a personal emergency. After her altercation with the co-passengers, the pilot refused to fly with her, prompting the airline to seek our help as she grew more violent."

"The airline staff and CISF officers have provided their statements to the authorities," added Sankeshwari, noting that the brother and sister who were part of the confrontation continued their journey to Delhi. Their statements will be taken later as part of the investigation.
