Lalu Yadav's Alleged Audio Tape Case: A day after the alleged audio-tape of Rashtriya Janata Dal patriarch Lalu Yadav came to light where he was allegedly trying to lure a BJP MLA to destabilize the NDA government, an FIR was registered against him by the same MLA in Patna. Yadav was also shifted from Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS)' Director's bungalow to the paying ward.

The shift of the RJD supremo to paying ward of RIMS comes as Ranchi district administration sought a report from the jail superintendent of Birsa Munda Central Jail as to how incarcerated RJD supremo Lalu Yadav had access to a mobile phone.

Notably Yadav was shifted from Paying Ward to the Director’s bungalow to protect him from the exposure to Covid-19 as some of the security guards at his ward had tested positive.

DC seeks report on how Lalu got phone in jail

The Jail IG of Jharkhand, Birendra Bhushan has asked Ranchi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chavi Ranjan to probe the matter. Acting on the IG's order, the Ranchi DC on Thursday sought a report from the jail superintendent within 24 hours regarding violation of the jail manual. The DC wanted to know how a mobile phone reached Lalu Yadav which is a clear violation of the jail manual.

FIR under Prevention of Corruption Act:

BJP MLA Lallan Paswan, who received the alleged phone call from Lalu Yadav asking him to remain absent from Bihar Assembly on the day of speaker’s election, lodged an FIR against him.

“We decided to lodge an FIR against Lalu Prasad under the Prevention of Corruption Act, based on his telephonic conversation with me, where he tried to tempt me & asked me to be absent from Bihar Assembly. This is how these people are playing with democracy,” Paswan said.

Paswan, BJP MLA from Pirpainti, handed over to Patna's Nigrani Police station SHO, the transcript of alleged audio clip of jailed RJD Chief Lalu Prasad, allegedly asking him (Lallan Paswan) not to vote in the election for State assembly Speaker's post.

Lalu Yadav is has been receiving treatment in RIMS for the last 26 months.

What was the alleged audio tape:

On Tuesday, Lalu Yadav allegedly made a phone call to BJP's Bihar legislator Lalan Paswan that created controversy. Lalu purportedly asked the legislator to remain absent during the election of the Speaker in the Bihar Assembly on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Modi released an audio in which Lalu Yadav was heard trying to persuade BJP legislator Paswan to remain absent during the Speaker's election.
