New Delhi: Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav on Monday shared an update on his father and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav's kidney transplant surgery which was underway in a Singapore hospital. He said the RJD chief's surgery was successful and he and her daughter Rohini Acharya, who donated the kidney are both healthy.

In a video clip shared by the Bihar deputy CM, Lalu Yadav can be seen being taken to the ICU as Tejashwi checks on his father. Bihar's former chief minister and Lalu Prasad's wife, Rabri Devi, can also be seen in the background.

Tejashwi posted a seven-second clip with a tweet in Hindi, "After Papa's kidney transplant operation was successful, he was shifted from operation theater to ICU.”

“Donor elder sister Rohini Acharya and National President both are healthy. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes,” he wrote.

Yadav, who has been suffering from kidney-related problems, was advised a transplant. Rohini Acharya, the Singapore-based second daughter of the veteran politician, had donated her kidney to her father. Ahead of her surgery today, Rohini shared pictures on her Twitter handle at the hospital and said “ready to rock and roll, wish me good luck."

Last month, Tejashwi had said that while several members of his family were eager to donate their kidney to his father, his older sister Rohini Archarya had the best match.

Lalu Yadav, a convict in fodder scam cases, is currently out on bail due to health issues. He had been to Singapore earlier this year for medical treatment, but he had to return since the time limit set by a Delhi court for his international trip had expired. He is currently in Singapore to undergo his kidney transplant.
