According to the reports, both the neighbouring countries who have been engaged in border stand-off at Line of Actual Control, are expected to deliberate on specific proposals during the first extensive talks between the Indian and Chinese military on Saturday. The diplomatic talk between the two countries tomorrow will be led by lieutenant generals from both the armies.
Lt Gen Harinder Singh, general officer commanding of Leh-based 14 Corps will be representing India at the negotiation table at one of the border meeting points. The Indian side is expected to present specific proposals at the talks to de-escalate tension in Pangong Tso, Galwan Valley and Demchok - the three areas in eastern Ladakh where the two sides have been on a bitter standoff for the last one month.
Ahead of negotiations, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang has reportedly said that "the moment the situation in the boundary region between China and India is overall stable and controllable".
As quoted in PTI report, Geng in a media briefing on Friday said that "We have full-fledged border-related mechanisms and we maintain close communications though military and diplomatic channels," he said when asked about reports that Indian and Chinese military officials are due to hold talks on Saturday. "We are committed to properly resolve the relevant issue."
The tensions between the two sides have been on for almost a month now in the Galwan Nala area over construction activities. However, it has been observed that over the last three-four days, there hadn’t been an escalation by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops at the different points its army has been stationed against the Indian side.
