New Delhi: Security forces gunned down three militants who tortured and killed Jammu Kashmir cop Saleem Shah, in an encounter that started in Khudwani Kulgam, South Kashmir.

As per Jammu Kashmir police: ''Terrorists involved in the abduction and killing of Constable Saleem yesterday have been killed in an encounter at Khudwani Kulgam".


While confirming that all the three militants involved in killing of the trainee constable had been eliminated during the gunfight in Khudwani area of Kulgam district, states police chief S.P. Vaid said: "Three bodies of terrorists recovered so far from encounter site".


Search operations is still on in the place where Shah was killed yesterday(Saturday). The operation is being carried out by South Kashmir police and Indian Army’s 1 Rashtriya Rifle.

Terrorists on Saturday had killed a policeman named Mohammad Saleem Shah, son of Abdul Gani Shah after abducting him from his home the previous night.

Shah was a resident of Mutalhama, Kulgam.

The body of the martyred policeman was recovered with severe torture marks from a nursery near village Redwani Payeen, indicating that he was brutally tortured to death by the terrorists.

Shah is survived by aged parents, two brothers and one unmarried sister.
