The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday ordered Dr Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Hospital to take go on leave following the brutal rape and murder of a doctor on campus. The high court while hearing a bunch of petitions filed following the horrifying rape and murder of a doctor in the hospital premisis, expressed dismay over his fresh appointment to a new college within 12 hours of resignation. 


He was appointed as principal of Calcutta National Medical College (CNMC) after he resigned from his position at RG Kar Hospital. The court asked that how can he be appointed within 12 hours after he resigned taking moral responsibilty.






The high court also asked the counsel appearing for state, "Why are you protecting him? Record his statement. Let him tell whatever he knows.?" Chief Justice Division bench further sought the case diary of the matter before the court at 1 pm today.


The court also allowed intervention application filed by the parents of the deceased doctor. The Counsel appearing for parents told the high court that they seek a court-monitored investigation into the case.


"We were told at 9:30 PM that she was unwell. Then she committed suicide. The hospital did not allow me to see my daughter," the LiveLaw reported quoting the lawyer appearing for parents.


The high court also said that it is important that state listens to the demands of the protesting doctors.


"You need to take note of their problem also. If one of their colleague was so brutally dealt, their feeling must also be noted. If we can get the name of an association, we can appeal to them," the livelaw quoted high court bench telling the West Bengal state government.
