New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his message on Sunday on the occasion of the inauguration of the Khelo India University Games that are being held in Bengaluru this year. While addressing the participants at the national level event, he said that those who take up challenges in sports and life are the ones who make it big.
He addressed the event via video conferencing, where PM Modi wished luck to all the participants of the games. He said that Bengaluru city in itself is the identity of the young face of India.
The Khelo India Games being held in Bengaluru will improve the energy of Digital India’s center of the country, he added.
He further added that “these games being organised amid a global pandemic are an example of the dedication of the youth of the country.”
He then went on to hail the youth of the country and said that the youth is taking the country forward, and the sports teach a team spirit to the youth. He said that a win in sports means a holistic approach and dedication in all ways. He added that sports are the actual support system of life, and the participants will find the lessons learned during these events to be helpful in their life.
“In sports and life, losing is winning, and losing is the lesson. Those who take up challenges in sports and life are the ones who make it big,” he said.
He further said that the youth have made fitness the mantra for development. The sports colleges and sports science universities are for the youth of the country.
The event was also attended by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur.
Prior to PM Modi, Anurag Thakur also addressed the attendees at the event. He said, “Winning and losing are part of the game. Every participant should play with the spirit of sportsmanship. I am sure we will see the students who are playing in these university games, play for the country in the future.”
A day ahead of the beginning of the games, PM Modi wrote on his Twitter on Saturday that it is a matter of great joy that these games are being held in Bengaluru. He further added that “These games will go a long way in nurturing young sporting talent.”
Khelo India University Games is a national-level multi-sports competition in which athletes from different Universities across the country participate. The first edition of these games was organised in Odisha in 2020. This is the second edition of the Khelo India University Games which is being held in Bengaluru.
