Compensation For Crop Damage: The Arvind Kejriwal government has made a huge announcement regarding compensation to farmers who lost their produce to ravaging rains. The Delhi government has announced that it will pay compensation at the rate of Rs. 50,000 per hectare to every farmer impacted by this. The Delhi Chief Minister declared that it will be the highest compensation to farmers in Delhi's history.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), this October has been the wettest in Delhi in 65 years.
“A few days back, some farmers of Delhi came to meet me. They were worried that due to unseasonal rains, their crops were damaged. I want to tell all my farmer brothers that they needn’t worry. I am with you, the government is with you. We are standing with you in every difficulty,” Kejriwal said in a digital press conference Wednesday.
Kejriwal said the Delhi government does not just make announcements but also makes sure that within three months, the money reaches the accounts of the farmers.
He said, "I have ordered all SDMs and DMs to start work and they have already begun measurements and analysis. Work has begun on surveying areas where crops have been destroyed. I hope that within two weeks, we would complete all the measurements and surveys. After this is complete, compensation will reach your account within one and a half months."
