New Delhi: As the residents saw no respite from the severe pollution level in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Friday, distributed pollution mask among school students and asked them to write letters to the Chief Ministers of the two states urging them to control stubble burning in their states.

The Delhi government has procured 50 lakh N95 masks for distribution among children in private and government schools.

Kejriwal told the students that the smoke emanating from stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana causes pollution in Delhi.

He then said: “Please write letters to Captain uncle and Khattar uncle and ask them to think about our health.”

He also urged Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh to think about the health of children and take steps to stop stubble burning.

Later, he took to Twitter and targeted the Punjab and Haryana governments over the uncontrolled stubble burning.

He tweeted that the farmers are forced to indulge in stubble burning that contributes significantly to the pollution level in Delhi. Yesterday, people expressed their anguish against the state governments by protesting outside Punjab and Haryana Bhawans," he said in a tweet in Hindi.

Environmental experts say that stubble burning is the biggest reason for the haze that has enveloped Delhi-NCR since the last few days.
