According to the reports, the farmer identified as Mohammad Hanief, son of Feroz Din, was shocked when the PDD served an inflated electricity bill to the resident of Guhrian Sheiklian village and asked to pay the bill for over ten crores.
As mentioned in a report by The Tribune, the bill generated two days ago against Consumer ID 0107040013753 is for the period of one month, i.e. from May 1, 2020 - May 31, 2020. The exact amount mentioned in the bill is Rs 10,08,38,138.00 'only'.
Shocked by the receipt from the power department, Hanief has now approached the sarpanch of the village. He even brought the matter into the notice of concerned authorities. As per the reports, Sarpanch along with the villagers approached Mendhar tehsildar and the PDD office as well.
Responding to the matter, PDD officials have claimed that it was computer generated error and not an intention of any official.

Meanwhile, Rahul Yadav, commissioner at Poonch district reportedly said that that bill mentioning amount of Rs 10 crores was a clerical mistake which will soon be rectified by the department.
"It was a clerical mistake and it will be rectified. Exact cause of the erroneous bill can be explained by the PDD but obviously it is a computer error. The reading has been punched twice and hence miscalculation accured," the officer said, as quoted by HT. The bill was sent from the office of AEE, PDD Sub-Division Mendhar.
