Jammu & Kashmir: A Viral video of army Jawans helping locals in snowed out Kashmir where most of the villages in the mountainous districts are virtually cut off, has surfaced recently. The video belies the claims of the state administration that all the areas have been cleared of the snow and have been made accessible.
The video has surfaced from Mohanbal village in Langate in Kupwara district in which army soldiers of 30 Rashtriya rifles, ferried an old man for medical treatment.
According to the locals, 70-year-old Mohammad Sultan, a resident of Mohanbal village had an attack of Asthma early morning. But, the village had been completely snowed out and was not accessible by vehicles, thereby making evacuation impossible.
According to the army, one resident walked three kilometres from the village to the camp of 30 Rashtriya rifles at Haril and informed them about the medical emergency.
The local unit immediately swung into action and sent a team of jawans to Mohanbal where an old man had fallen sick. Jawans had to walk in knee deep snow for about 4 hours to reach the old man.
As the area was covered by many feet of snow, Jawans walked upto the village and brought the old man down on their shoulders for treatment at the hospital, saving his life.
