Karnataka Trust Vote: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa won trust vote in the Vidhana Soudha on Monday after he proved his majority in the Assembly winning the confidence motion by a voice vote. With the numbers game favouring the BJP government, the Congress and JDS did not press for division on the one-line motion moved by Yediyurappa that the House expresses confidence in his three-day old Ministry. BJP government-led by Yediyurappa is now safe for six months since the next trust vote can be moved only after that. Yediyurappa alleged the administrative machinery in the State had collapsed during the Congress-JDS rule and his priority was to bring it back on track.

While moving the confidence motion in the Assembly to prove the majority of his three-day old ministry, Yediyurappa said he would not indulge in "politics of vengeance" as he believed in the "forget and forgive principle." "My becoming the chief minister is according to expectations of the people," said Yediyurappa who succeeded HD Kumaraswamy whose 14-month old government collapsed under the weight of a rebellion by a section of the coalition MLAs.

Yediyurappa said he assumed office in a difficult situation with the state facing drought. "The administrative machinery has collapsed... my priority is to bring it back on track," he said.

B S Yediyurappa, who assumed the office of Chief Minister last Friday, sought the trust vote in the Legislative Assembly today. With the confidence that his government will prove majority on the eve of trust vote, he had said, "On Monday hundred per cent I will prove the majority."
