In a major crackdown on corruption, the Karnataka Lokayukta police conducted simultaneous raids on Wednesday across multiple districts, targeting eight government officials in connection with disproportionate assets (DA) cases.
Raids At Places Linked To 8 Govt Officials
Raids were carried out in Bengaluru, Koppal, Kalaburagi, Tumakuru, Mysuru, Madikeri, and Bidar, officials confirmed, as per a report on Deccan Herald. In Bidar, sleuths recovered cash, gold ornaments, some high-end watches and other valuables from the residence of Maruthi Bagli, Assistant Director of Town and Country Planning.
Among those under the scanner is senior IAS officer Vasanthi Amar B.V., currently serving as Special Deputy Commissioner at the Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited (K-RIDE).
Karnataka Lokayukta Raids
In a sweeping anti-corruption drive, the Karnataka Lokayukta carried out statewide search operations throughout 2025, targeting government officials accused of possessing disproportionate assets.
On June 24, searches were conducted at 45 locations linked to eight officials, leading to the seizure of assets worth an estimated Rs 34.90 crore. Earlier, on May 15, raids were carried out at over 35 premises tied to seven officers across districts such as Bengaluru City, Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, Mangaluru, Vijayapura, and Yadgir, as per a report on IANS. These operations uncovered unaccounted assets valued at Rs 22.7 crore.
The crackdown began on January 31 with coordinated searches in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Chitradurga, Raichur, and Bagalkot, involving seven separate cases of alleged illicit asset accumulation. The series of raids underscores the Lokayukta’s firm commitment to rooting out corruption and ensuring financial accountability in public service.
