New Delhi: Launching a blistering attack on the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the party these days has been distributing “fake guarantees” among the public and the whole work of the party is a “bundle of lies”. Addressing a rally at Nanjangud town in poll-bound Karnataka on Sunday, PM Modi said, “These days Congress is spreading fake guarantees among the public. Congress' biggest guarantee became a fraud during the time of Rajiv Gandhi because the whole work of Congress is a bundle of lies. These days all Indian citizens are amazed at how there are so many Vande Bharat trains. This money is not of BJP, PM Modi, but of the citizens of India.”
Further taking potshots at the grand old party, PM Modi said whenever it comes to working against the interest of the country, the “royal family” comes to the forefront. “Congress’ royal family encourages the international forces to interfere in the country’s affairs,” news agency PTI quoted the Prime Minister as saying.
PM Modi was referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s address at Cambridge University earlier this year, where he took a dig at the Centre saying “Indian democracy is in danger”. Rahul Gandhi had also alleged that constraints were being put on the Parliament, press and the Judiciary in the country.
Referring to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent remark where he compared PM Modi to a venomous snake, thereby, triggering a war of words, the Prime Minister said, “Congress has abused me and poured poison on me, and lord Srikanteshwara of Nanjangud has given me strength.”
Earlier in the day, PM Modi held a massive 8km-long roadshow from Kempegowda statue at New Thippasandra Road to Trinity circle in Bengaluru. He was accompanied in the specially-designed vehicle by Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who is a Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka, and Bengaluru Central MP, P C Mohan.
