New Delhi: Though the Congress and JDS alliance parted ways on a bitter note following the collapse of the coalition government in Karnataka in July,  the two parties are all set to seal a matrimonial alliance as former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son exchanged rings with the grand-niece of Congress leader and realtor M. Krishnappa on Monday.

30-year-old Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who is a Kannada film actor, got engaged to Revathi, grand niece of former Karnataka housing minister M Krishnappa, in an upscale event Bengaluru, which was attended by Nikhil's grandfather and former prime minister of India H. D. Deve Gowda, along with several other politicians and influential people.  The engagement party was held at Taj West End near Bangalore Turf Club.

In addition to acting in movies, Nikhil is also actively participating in politics by meeting people and visiting several places. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he tried his luck in politics. He lost to Sumalatha Ambareesh, widow of former Karnataka actor Ambareesh, in the Mandya constituency.

A video of their engagement ceremony was shared by a YouTube user:

On February 6, Nikhil shared a picture with Revathi on his official Facebook account.

Nikhil, made his debut in the bilingual movie Jaguar in 2016. The actor will soon start shooting for his new movie Production No-1.

In a post-poll alliance after Karnataka Assembly polls, the Congress and the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) had formed a coalition government on May 23, 2018 to keep the BJP out of power and prevent President's rule in the southern state due to split verdict in the assembly elections, with the outgoing Congress winning 80 seats and JD-S 37.

The tables turned again in July last year after a number of JD(S) and Congress legislators rebelled and joined the BJP, bringing down the HD Kumaraswamy government and paving the way for BJP to form the government led by BS Yediyurappa.
