New Delhi: It is no hidden secret that Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni have been at loggerheads over certain issues while sharing the Indian dressing room. However, the former Indian team mates seem to be in consensus over one critical national issue, which is their love and admiration for the Armed Forces. Speaking as one of the panelist at ABP News Kargil Shikhar Sammelan, celebrating 20 years of Indian Army's path breaking victory in the Kargil War, Gautam Gambhir lauded his former skipper and team mate Mahendra Singh Dhoni for donning the olive greens and serving with the Parachute regiment of the Territorial Army.

The former Indian cricketer added that Dhoni's decision was a historic one and would serve as inspiration to youth of the nation to join the Army. Gambhir said Dhoni's decision shows his dedication and commitment towards the Armed Forces.

Former Indian World Cup winning skipper Kapil Dev was also among the panelist in Kargil Shikhar Sammelan, was agreement with Gambhir's appreciation of Dhoni. Dev hailed Dhoni's decision to serve with his regiment as a bold step and felt it will motivate young citizens of the nation. He added that every youth of the nation should spend a little period of their lives serving with the Defence Forces.

After India's shocking exit from the 2019 ICC World Cup, MS Dhoni took a sabbatical from the sport and joined the Parachute Regiment of the Teritorial Army to serve the nation.  Dhoni is currently with his battalion in Kashmir and will undergo all the duties ranging from patrolling to guard duties.

The cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir has been quite vocal about issues concerning national security and come out wholeheartedly in support of the Armed Forces in the past.
