New Delhi: Even after 3 days of the Kanpur encounter in which 8 police officers from Uttar Pradesh lost their lives, the notorious gangster and history-sheeter Vikas Dubey remains elusive. According to reports, the police have put up his photo all over the state including the Unnao toll plaza and even areas near Nepal border so that people may tip-off police if they see Dubey attempting to cross the border and enter Nepal.

Connection with BJP MLA?

An old video of notorious gangster Vikas Dubey has also surfaced which in which he claims to have a connection with a BJP leader. The video shows Dubey boasting about his contact with BJP MLA Bhagwati Sagar.

The MLA has denied these claims and said “I have never helped him in any way either by phone or verbally. I have never appealed to any officer on his behalf for anything. Authorities in Kanpur are welcome to check my records thoroughly.”

He also said that Dubey had in fact campaigned against him during the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. “He had tried to disrupt my poll campaign and had even threatened people and told them to not vote for me,” said Sagar denying that he ever met him.

Bounty Increased

The search for Dubey continues and the police have also increased the bounty on the criminal. The ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar has said, “the reward for the arrest of Vikas Dubey who is involved in gunning down 8 UP policemen, increased to Rs 2.50 lakh.”

On Sunday the Uttar Pradesh police arrested the Daya Shankar Agnihotri the main accomplice of Dubey after a brief encounter. Agnihotri is a key member of the Vikas Dubey gang and was arrested in a pre-dawn encounter around 4.40 a.m. in Kalyanpur area. Agnihotri who was accused in the firing incident on the policemen was carrying a cash reward of Rs 25,000.
