New Delhi: In a shocking incident, doctor’s apathy claimed the life of a 12-year-old in Kanpur, after the doctors of  Hallet Hospital (now known as Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital) refused to provide an ambulance and stretcher to the boy whose was suffering through high fever and diarrhoea.


As Anshu (patient) was very unwell his father took him to Hallet hospital, after which the Hallet hospital suggested his father to take to a private hospital.

Seeing his sensitive condition, his father pleaded in front of the authorities to provide them with an ambulance, which the hospital denied, after which his father carried him on his shoulder and rushed. But, unfortunately couldn’t make it to the hospital on time and the boy passed away.

The father of the child alleged that the doctors asked him to go from one department to another which he did while carrying his son on his shoulder, Anshu died in the process.

On the other hand, JVSM Medical College Principal Navneet Kumar today said the child was already brought dead to the hospital and an inquiry has been ordered into the matter.

A committee led by three doctors has been asked to submit a report on the matter within three days,the Medical College Principal said today.

Kapur DM Kaushal Raj Sharma has also ordered an inquiry into the matter and has formed a two-member committee comprising Additional City Magistrate and Additional Chief Medical Officer.

This comes days after a bone chilling incident from reported from Odisha where a man carried the dead body of his wife on his shoulder for 10 kms as he was denied an ambulance. (With PTI inputs)
