Kumaraswamy had not rested and was travelling without a break. According to Times Now, his party said in a statement to the media that while Kumaraswamy was continuously campaigning, the heat had harmed his health.

Ahead of polls on May 10 Assembly polls in Karnataka, Kumaraswamy had been travelling extensively campaigning for JD(S) candidates across the state.

The 63-year-old leader has asked JD(S) workers and leaders not to worry and that he will participate in the election campaign after resting for a bit, his office said in a statement.

The party further said that the leader would return to campaigning once the doctors give him the “all-clear”.

Kumaraswamy had undergone heart-related surgery in the past.

While the polls will be held on May 10, the counting of the votes will be held on May 13.
