Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh, who was ailing for some time, breathed his last on Saturday after a prolonged illness at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI).
Singh was admitted to SGPGI on July 4 in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition. He died due to sepsis and multi-organ failure, the hospital said in the statement.
Politicians across party lines condoled Singh's demise. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Home Minister Amit Shah and others expressed grief over the death of the veteran leader.
