New Delhi: The Kabaddi player Rohit Chillar has been arrested in Mumbai by Delhi police, on Friday, in connection with the suicide case of his wife Lalita.

His father also surrendered at Nangloi police station in west Delhi.



The 26-year-old player was in Mumbai when Lalita hung herself from a ceiling fan in her west Delhi home around 7:30 pm on Monday evening. She was two years elder to him.

Lalita had left a suicide note and two-and-a-half-hour voice message alleging that her in-laws harassed her for dowry.

The couple married in March this year but recently Lalita left her husband and was living in a Nangaloi apartment.

However, accused Rohit Chillar has in a video message said that he is not involved in the incident in any way and all allegations are false.

He said that he loved his wife and that the allegation of dowry is wrong.

In a Facebook post also Rohit has said that he loved her wife and never tortured her for money.

Audio message of Lalita

Interestingly, before the suicide, Lalita had recorded an audio message in which she said that in front of her husband, her father-in-law beaten her badly. She also alleged that her husband himself snatch away her mobile phone.

In the audio message, she also alleged that her husband had relations with other girls.

In a conversation with ABP News, Lalita's one of the relatives has said that till last moment Lalita had tried to talk to her husband but he didn't respond.

The family is demanding justice for their daughter.
