In a significant development in the weapon snatching incident which took place at Jammu and Kashmir Bank Dadsara, Awantipora yesterday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday arrest one f the two identified youth and even recovered 12 Bore rifle. ALSO READ | J&K L-G Announces Rs 1350 Cr Economic Package Amid Covid, 50% Discount In Water And Electricity Bills


In a statement issued today, the police said that during the course of investigation of weapon snatching case that took place on Saturday, two youth were identified during video footage analysis who alleged indulged in the weapon snatching act.

Of the two youth identified with the help of video footage, one has been arrested. The police also recovered the snatched 12 Bore rifle of the said case from the school premises of the Dadsara village.

Meanwhile, the other accused youth alleged involved in the case remains to be on the run. The police sources added that the role of third person, if any, remains uncertain as of now.

It is worth mentioning that two masked youth entered Jammu and Kashmir Bank Dadsara at about 10:50 am on Saturday and attacked the private security guard of “G Active Security service” with the axe and snatched his 12 Bore rifle.

The security guard of the bank attacked by the miscreants has been identified as  Showkat Ahmad Hajam, resident of Saimoh Tral

Soon after the incident, the entire area was cordoned off by the forces to nab the persons involved. Police personnel told news agency ANI that efforts are on to identify the culprits involved in the commission of the crime.
