J&K: Army Officer Injured In An Encounter Between Security Forces And Terrorists In Baramulla, Operation Underway

An army officer has been injured and rushed to hospital after an encounter broke out between the Indian army and terrorists in J&K's Baramulla district.

Srinagar: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. The J&K police informed that they have launched a cordon and search operation at Yedipora in Pattan area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir following specific information about the presence of terrorists, a police officer said. During the encounter, an Army Major has been shot and taken to the hospital in a very serious condition. At least 2 terrorists are still hiding in the building. The exchange of firing is going on, the officer said, adding additional forces have been rushed to the area and further details were awaited. The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon a search party of the forces, who retaliated.
