The ladder was supposedly used in crossing the barbed wire border-fence.
Four to five militants tried to cross over to the Indian side using the darkness of Friday night, but were stopped by the security forces.
Firing from both sides continued for several hours which forced the militants to go back.
They however left back some items at the LOC in their haste to flee.
Among the items recovered were some grenades, food-items, and two folding ladders
The ladder made up of light aluminum does not weigh more than 2-3 kgs and after folding it’s height reduces to 4 feet- an easy to carry around stuff.
The ladder when unfolded can become as long as 20 ft, which can then easily aid the militanst to cross over the barbed wire fence on the border and reach to the Indian side because the average height of the fence wire is 10-15 fee.
Two ladders were discovered which were apparently to be sued on both sides of the fence- one for climbing up and the other for getting down on the other side.
