New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Jharkhand Assembly and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi has slammed CM Hemant Soren for the latter’s “incident happen” remark over the death of a minor girl in Dumka district, reported news agency ANI. Communist Party of India leader and General Secretary of National Federation of Indian Women, Annie Raja also strongly reacted over CM Soren’s remarks.

The Chief Minister drew Opposition’s ire while responding to the death of a minor girl in Jharkhand’s Dumka district who was found hanging from a tree. Reacting to the incident, Soren said “incidents happen, where do they not occur?”

"What can be more shameful than a man who exploited a 14-year-old minor for months? To my knowledge, the girl was also pregnant. Despite all these, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said this keeps happening. How will the crime stop if this continues? Marandi said.

Speaking to the news agency, Raja said, “"This type of atrocity has happened before in Jharkhand. But why is he (Hemant Soren) sitting on the CM post? He is there to ensure that this kind of incident is prevented. I highly condemned his remarks on this incident. There are enough laws in our country to prevent all these kinds of incidents, and as a Chief Minister of the state, he should do every effort to make sure that the state's laws are implemented in letter and spirit."
