New Delhi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren, the son of state’s architect Shibu Soren, who was formally elected the leader of JMM’s legislative party by the MLAs on Tuesday afternoon, met with Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu and staked the claim to form the government in Jharkhand, with the support of 50 MLAs.

Soren who was projected as the chief ministerial candidate of the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance, is set to be the eleventh CM of the state.

Soren said that the oath-taking ceremony will take place on December 29.

'We have claimed to form the government in Jharkhand, with the support of 50 MLAs. We have requested the Governor to invite us to form government in the state. Swearing-in ceremony to be held on December 29,' he said.

Soren, accompanied by leaders of his party, the Congress and RJD -- which comprised the opposition alliance in the assembly polls -- called on the governor at Raj Bhavan to stake claim to form the new government.

He will take oath as the chief minister on December 29 at 1 pm, JMM general secretary Suprio Bhattacharya, who accompanied him to Raj Bhavan, said.

Meanwhile, in another triumph for the Congress-RJD-JMM combine, the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, led by former CM Babulal Marandi, has also extended unconditional support to the alliance. JVM had clinched three seats in the decisive assembly polls.

Babulal Marandi said, "Our party will support Hemant Soren, unconditionally, because he has the required majority'.

A crucial meeting of the alliance is scheduled at JMM patriarch Shibu Soren's residence in the evening.
