Maoist-issued threats have not caused much of an impact as a voter turnout of 11.2 per cent was recorded till 10 a.m. in the 13 constituencies in six districts of Jharkhand.
Election Commission officials said that the voting in 13 Assembly constituencies, spread over six Maoist-hit districts, commenced at 7 am and will end at 3 pm.
The Maoists had killed four cops in Latehar just a few days back. Polling will continue till 3 p.m.
The fate of 189 candidates, including 15 women nominees, will be decided in the first phase of the polling in Chatra, Gumla, Bishunpur, Lohardaga, Manika, Latehar, Panki, Daltonganj, Bishrampur, Chhatarpur, Hussainabad, Garhwa, and Bhawanathpur.
