Jharkhand Assembly Election: Maoists Blow Up Bridge Amid Voting In 13 Jharkhand Seats

Maoist-issued threats have not caused much of an impact as a voter turnout of 11.2 per cent was recorded till 10 a.m. in the 13 constituencies in six districts of Jharkhand.

Ranchi: A bridge in Bishnupur in Gumla district was blown up by Maoists hours after the five-phase Assembly polling for Jharkhand began in the state on Saturday, November 30. According to officials, poling in 13 constituencies has not been affected due to the attack carried out by the insurgents.

Maoist-issued threats have not caused much of an impact as a voter turnout of 11.2 per cent was recorded till 10 a.m. in the 13 constituencies in six districts of Jharkhand.

Election Commission officials said that the voting in 13 Assembly constituencies, spread over six Maoist-hit districts, commenced at 7 am and will end at 3 pm.


The Maoists had killed four cops in Latehar just a few days back. Polling will continue till 3 p.m.

The fate of 189 candidates, including 15 women nominees, will be decided in the first phase of the polling in Chatra, Gumla, Bishunpur, Lohardaga, Manika, Latehar, Panki, Daltonganj, Bishrampur, Chhatarpur, Hussainabad, Garhwa, and Bhawanathpur.
