Jharkhand: A group of men raped 5 women at gunpoint in Chochang Village on Tuesday. The group of women, who were a part of an NGO, had gone to the village to perform a street play on creating awareness on human trafficking and migration.
As the women were performing their play, five armed Patalgarhi men came and took the women at gunpoint. ‘A group of men arrived on the scene and took them to nearby forests at gunpoint where the crime was perpetuated. The police have identified the culprits and eight people were detained in this connection’, the cops said on Thursday.
Three teams have been formed to investigate the case and a FIR has been filed.
‘The victims did not inform the concerned authority. Police obtained the information from their sources. Medical examination of the women is also completed’, officer added.
Patalgarhi is a tribal system in which villagers inscribe their beliefs on huge stone slabs and ban the entry of outsiders in their area.
