From President Droupadi Murmu to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several leaders extended greetings for the festival of Janmashtami, which marks the birth of Hindu deity Lord Krishna, on Monday. In a post on X, President Murmu said the festival “inspires us to be dedicated to the divine ideals of Lord Shri Krishna”.






Prime Minister Narendra Modi also posted his greetings on X. 






Union Home Minister Amit Shah said he prayed “to the Lord for everyone's happiness, prosperity and continued progress”.






Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's greeting was in the same vein, as he said he prayed to Lord Krishna for everyone's “prosperity and good health”.






Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, “I hope that this festival of joy and happiness fills everyone's life with new enthusiasm and excitement.”






Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge wrote in an X post, “It is our wish that this holy festival brings happiness, prosperity, progress and well-being in everyone's life.”






Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi minister Atishi shared a similar message. 






Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote on X, "Hail Kanhaiya Lal! Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all the devotees and residents of the state on the auspicious birth anniversary of kripasindhu Shri Banke Bihari ji, 'Shri Krishna Janmashtami'!" 






West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also extended greetings for Janmashtami.
