New Delhi: To mark the culmination of Jan Aushadhi week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with owners and beneficiaries of the Jan Aushadhi scheme on Monday through video conferencing.
PM Modi will address the nation at 12:30 PM. The theme of the event for this year was “Jan Aushadhi-Jan Upyogi”. PM Modi’s interaction with beneficiaries will be followed by his address on the occasion.
What’s the significance of Jan Aushadhi week?
Jan Aushadhi week was observed from March 1 to create awareness about the usage of generic medicines and benefits of Jan Aushadhi Yojana. As of now, more than 8,600 Jan Aushadhi stores are present across the country spanning almost every district, to make medicines affordable and accessible to the citizens.
During this week, various events such as Jan Aushadhi Sankalp Yatra, Matri Shakti Samman, Jan Aushadhi Bal Mitra, Jan Aushadhi Jan Jagran Abhiyan, Aao Jan Aushadhi Mitra Baney, and Jan Aushadhi Jan Arogya Mela have been organised.
Celebrated under the aegis of the department of pharmaceuticals, Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) has observed 4th Jan Aushadhi Diwas. Weeklong celebrations were conducted at different locations across the country covering all states/UTs.
Various events during the week-long celebrations were organised with close coordination of PMBJKs owners, beneficiaries, state/UT officials, public representatives, doctors, health workers, nurses, pharmacists Jan Aushadhi Mitra and other stakeholders.
All the activities have been marked organised within the spirit of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
Apart from focusing on awareness about the Jan Aushadhi Scheme, Seminars, participation of children, women, and NGOs, Heritage walks and Health walks, and many other activities were planned.
Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) was launched by the department of pharmaceuticals, ministry of chemicals, and fertilizers in November 2008. Under the scheme, as per the ministry, dedicated outlets known as Janaushadhi Kendras are opened to provide generic medicines at affordable prices.
