New Delhi: Two IEDs were recovered from Dassal village and its adjoining area in Jammu And Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Sunday in a joint operation launched by the Police, SOG Rajouri, Army field Regiment & CRPF 72Bn, as reported by the news agency ANI, citing a police official.
The IEDs recovered were destroyed by the BDS team and a case was registered under Explosive Act.
“On 22nd Jan at 6 pm, a joint op was launched by Police, SOG Rajouri, Army field Regiment & CRPF 72Bn at Dassal & its adjoining area. During the search 2 IEDs were recovered at Dassal. Later on, IEDs were destroyed by the BDS team. Case registered under Explosive Act, Rajouri Police said as quoted by ANI.
In another incident, Shopian police and Indian Army on Sunday arrested Nasir Ahmed Sher Gojri -- one of the longest surviving Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in a joint operation, ANI reported citing officials. Nasir Ahmed Sher Gojri alias Qasim Bhai had been active since 2017 and is involved in various criminal cases, police said.
A case was registered against the arrested terrorist under the relevant sections, officials informed further. Further investigation into this matter is underway, they added.
On December 31 last year, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh revealed that there are over 100 foreign-based terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir.
Twin blasts rocked Jammu's Narwal industrial area on Saturday, leaving nine persons injured. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the blasts. Senior police officials briefed the L-G about the blasts and the progress of the investigation. The L-G sought urgent steps to identify and take action against those responsible.
