A terrorist has been killed in a shootout with Army personnel near the Trimukh Top in Kowut of Kupwara district. A non-commissioned officer NCO was injured during the anti-terror operation conducted jointly by the Jammu & Kashmir Police and the Indian Army.


"On 24 July, suspicious movement was observed and challenged by vigilant troops, in response to which terrorists opened indiscriminate fire. In the ensuing fire fight one terrorist has been eliminated and a NCO injured. Operation is in progress [sic]," the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army posted on X.






The shootout started during a search operation by the Army in the Kowut area of Kupwara. The search had been going on for a few days. The team noticed suspicious movement in the area on Tuesday and investigated. Early on Wednesday, the security engaged in a shootout with the terrorists and gunned down one of them. The operation is still on.

Soldier Dies In Poonch


A soldier, who sustained critical injuries on Tuesday during an operation to foil an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, passed away in the evening.


The soldier, identified Lance Naik Subhash Chander, was shot during an exchange of gunfire between the Army and terrorists in the Battal area of KG Sector Mendhar Poonch. He was rushed to a hospital, where he passed away during treatment.
