Kashmiri Separatist Leader Yasin Malik Admitted To RML Hospital After Hunger Strike In Tihar Jail

According to the medical institution, Malik sent a letter to the physicians stating that he did not want to be treated.

Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, who was on hunger strike in Tihar Jail here, was brought to the RML hospital on Wednesday due to a change at his blood pressure, according to the sources, news agency PTI reported.

According to the medical institution, Malik sent a letter to the physicians stating that he did not want to be treated.

"He was admitted to RML hospital on Tuesday after fluctuation in his BP levels," a source was quoted by PTI in its report.

Malik (56), the leader of the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), began his indefinite hunger strike on Friday morning after the Centre failed to respond to his request that he be allowed to physically appear in a Jammu court hearing the Rubaiya Sayeed abduction case, in which he is an accused.

The separatist commander, who had been held in solitary confinement in a high-risk cell in Tihar's prison number 7, was transferred to the jail's Medical Investigation (MI) room and was given IV fluids.

The NIA arrested Malik, the leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), in 2019 in connection with an ongoing terror-funding investigation that began in 2017.

The NIA said in its first information report (FIR) that Kashmiri separatists, including Hafiz Saeed of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LoT) and Syed Salahuddin of the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, were receiving funds from Pakistan to stir up struggles in the Valley through stone-pelting, burning down schools, and organizing agitations.

In the case, the NIA detained a number of separatists, including Malik, Asiya Andrabi of the Dukhtaran-e-Millat, and Shabir Shah of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party.
