In an ongoing effort to curb terrorism, the authorities in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir have seized property belonging to an absconding militant be based in Pakistan. The action was taken on Friday, as part of a larger crackdown on terror elements in the region. According to the local police, immovable property consisting of one "kanal" and 15 "marlas" of orchard land, located in Noorpora within the southern Kashmir district, was attached. This property is associated with Feroz Ganie, a suspected terror handler. The court order for this attachment was issued by the Additional Sessions Pulwama (National Investigation Agency court).


The execution of this court order was carried out by the revenue authorities, in conjunction with the local police, and village representatives, as per a statement from a police spokesperson.


"One immovable property (1 Kanal and 15 Marlas) of terror handler Feroz Ganie, son of Naber Ganie, situated at Noorpora has been attached under sections of 83 CrPC from the Court of Additional Sessions Pulwama (NIA Court) by Awantipora Police. Revenue authorities executed this order along with village representatives," the police said.

"The said terrorist was involved in case FIR No. 36/2023 U/s 18,20,23,25,38 and 39 UA(P) act and 7/25 Indian Arms Act of Police Station Tral was declared as proclaimed offender by Hon’ble special NIA Court Pulwama U/S 82 CrPC earlier after absconding terrorist failed to appear before investigating agency," read a statement.


The Pak-based terrorist Feroz Ganie is allegedly involved in promoting and reviving terrorist activities by pushing Arms and Ammunition and activating local terror networks. He was involved in a case registered under various sections Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Indian Arms Act, and he was declared a proclaimed offender by the special NIA court in Pulwama earlier after he failed to appear before the investigating agency, the spokesman said, reported news agency PTI.

Earlier in the day, a key accused in a case linked to cross-border smuggling of arms, explosives, and narcotics into Poonch, was arrested from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, said officials.


Mohammad Iqbal, a resident of Poonch, had been absconding since the arrest of three of his accomplices who were caught with a pile of arms, explosives and narcotics near the border fence in the Karmara area of Jammu and Kashmit's Poonch on the intervening night of May 30 and 31, PTI reported. A team from the Special Investigation Agency (SIA) ascertained that a local hiding in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district was Iqbal. SIA team arrested him on Friday, said an official while talking to PTI.
