Earlier this month, a terrorist was killed while a police officer and an army jawan were injured in an encounter in Raesi, Jammu & Kashmir. The gunfight broke out in Reasi as a result of specific information about the presence of two terrorists. The combined operation was carried out by the police and the army, according to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP Mukesh) Singh.

Earlier, it was claimed that a police officer was hurt in the gunfight, and subsequently, an Army jawan was also injured.

This came after a catastrophic tragedy was almost averted earlier this month when a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was detected in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. The IED, placed inside a tiffin box, was discovered lying on the roadside near a culvert by the army's road opening crew at Sangpur village along the Jammu-Poonch National Highway at around 4.45 a.m., according to officials quoted by news agency PTI.
