In a successful joint operation conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police along with other security forces, a terrorist associated with the proscribed terror outfit Ansar Guzwatul Hind (AGH) was arrested in the Shopian District of South Kashmir on Sunday. The operation also resulted in the recovery of arms and ammunition from the accused.
A checkpoint was established at Habdipora Shopian Crossing by the Police in collaboration with the Army and CRPF. During the inspection, a suspicious person coming from Kundalan towards Shopian was intercepted. The identified individual, Farman Khursheed, a resident of Gagren Shopian, was subjected to a physical search, leading to the discovery of incriminating materials. The seized items included one pistol, two pistol magazines, 10 rounds of 9mm caliber ammunition, and a mobile phone.
During preliminary questioning, the arrested man, Farman Khursheed, revealed his association with the banned outfit AGH. He confessed to being a terrorist associate and disclosed plans to carry out attacks on security forces in the district.
Regarding the incident, a case under relevant sections of the law has been registered (FIR No.194/23) at Police Station Shopian, and an investigation has been launched.

3 LeT Militant Associates Arrested In Jammu & Kashmir's Baramulla
In a separate operation, the police arrested three militant associates associated with the Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT) outfit in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. The operation, conducted during joint Naka checking and patrolling with 13 SIKHLI, 185 BN BSF, and Baramulla Police at Kalgai near Jhula foot Bridge, resulted in the arrest of two individuals, Zameer Ahmad Khanday and Mohammad Naseem Khanday, both residents of Madiyan Kamalkote.
Upon searching the suspects, the authorities recovered three Chinese grenades and cash amounting to 2.5 lakhs. A case under relevant sections of the law was registered in Police Station Uri.
During sustained questioning, the arrested individuals revealed that the grenades and cash were provided to them by Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti, a resident of Madiyan Kamalkote, with the intention of executing any terrorist act. Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti was subsequently picked up for questioning, where he confessed to supplying the grenades and cash for the commission of terrorist acts. He also disclosed the location of an additional Chinese hand grenade and cash (2.17 lakhs).
Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti was arrested in connection with the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
